‘The Ancestor’ Goes Walkabout

I think ‘The Ancestor’ probably got a bit tired of kneeling outside the Holiday Inn at Amesbury in all weathers. This Summer, he’s going on tour! First, to the Summer Solstice celebration at Stonehenge, then back to the AR Metalcraft workshop before re-appearing at Hudson’s Field, in Salisbury, to take part in the Olympic Torch celebrations.

Of course, moving the ‘Big Fella’ is no easy task. Fortunately, the Army stepped in, and men and equipment from the workshops of 32 Regiment, RA undertook the moving.

He was accompanied by two recently-acquired friends, a crow and a hare, by Amy Lancaster, and they’ll keep him company on the ‘tour’.

This coming weekend, we’re going walkabout ourselves, to Maastricht, to see the André Rieu concert. Up to now, we’ve seen two of his live concerts, and a ‘cinecast’ … and we’re booked for another of his concerts at Birmingham, in December. So, you could say we like him!

No sooner will we be back, when our grand-daughters arrive; we’re to take them down to Plymouth, where Ellie wants to check out the University. We’re staying there overnight, so we should see other things besides the Uni. So, for the next week, I’ll post if time and Internet connection allow; if I don’t … see you next Friday!

  1. Hi Keith,
Looks like a huge task to move the “Big Fella” around, but still a great idea.
Oh that is great, I know how much you love Andre Rieu concerts, you should have a fantastic time, enjoy. 🙂

  2. He is getting special treatment with the army coming in. Have fun at the concert!
