Return to High Force

High Force: 20th July 2021

We planned a tour of Teesdale today. We were going to Barnard Castle, then to High Force. I don’t know quite how we did it; we thought we’d programmed the SATNAV to take us to ‘Barney’ first, but it directed us to Middleton in Teesdale. So, we went to see the waterfall at High Force.

There’s a car park … pay and display, of course … and you have to pay to walk the path which leads down to the River Tees. The fall wasn’t quite as spectacular as it was on previous visits but that was in winter, when there was much more water in it. (See https://travelrat.wordpress.com/2019/01/20/high-force/ )

But, still a sight to behold, well worth the entrance fees and the walk down the path, especially on a hot day like today. And little Oliver especially enjoyed scrambling around the tumbled rocks by the riverside.
