Hverir

We were most impressed by the fumaroles and pools of boiling water or mud at Hverir, in Iceland. But, what struck us most was that the ‘facilities’ just consisted of a car park, an interpretation board and tape keeping visitors away from the more dangerous places. In England, they’d have it fenced off, charge you a tenner a throw to get in, and wouldn’t let you out till you’d passed through the gift shop.
