Nea Kamini

This is one of the more easily achieved summits of a volcano, for it’s only a couple of hundred feet above sea level, if that, and can easily be achieved by a fairly easy walk. It’s the volcanic island of Nea Kamini, off Santorini, and it didn’t exist 200 years ago.

It’s not an extinct or dormant volcano, either; it last erupted in the 1950s. Maybe it’s due for another one … hopefully, spectacular, rather than disastrous!
