Guilin

When we visited China in 2014, we were much impressed by the towering limestone stacks, which geologists call karst, in the countryside around Yangshuo and Guilin. We were reminded of the film Avatar, and wondered if inspiration might have been drawn from similar features.

Someone in our party said it reminded her on Ha Long Bay … which we visited five years later, and found she was right.
