Cuzco: 18th February 2017

There was plenty of daylight left when we got back to Cuzco, and I thought it would be a shame to leave the city without any pictures at all. So, I hiked a short way up the hill to the main square, the Plaza de Armas … which is easier said than done, for I was still affected slightly by the altitude. And, just as I got back to the hotel, the heavens opened.

It developed into the grand-daddy of all thunderstorms, which resulted in a power cut at the restaurant to which we were taken for the farewell dinner. I think, if I could see what I was eating, I probably wouldn’t have started at all. I just hoped that cold rice and overcooked chicken wasn’t the ‘typical Peruvian cuisine’ we’d been promised.

However, I can’t remember the name of the restaurant, so I shall say no more, just draw a veil over it.
