Another Sign

sign3Would you buy a used car from these people?

Well, actually, if I was in the market for a used car, I might consider it. I’ve never done business with this firm, but I know one or two people who have, and they say they’re satisfied with their purchases, and what it sounds like can safely be disregarded.

Maybe it’s a bit of reverse psychology, like one of my favourite beers, which rejoices in the unappetising name of ‘Pigswill’. And, if you don’t believe me, go to

Just heard the Skycar team is back home after flying/driving across the African desert. Read their account at

  1. Rex means king, right? Perhaps they’re trying to promote themselves as top of the list, or something.
I reckon I’d buy from them, so long as the car was in good condition.

  2. Maybe a used car is a good car in their minds. Or maybe they just like to cover every angle of the market!

  3. Nothing wrong with used cars, as long as you pick a good ‘un … both the Renault 18s I owned in the 80s were pre-owned, and I never had any trouble with either of them. And, I have a friend who will not have a new car, even though he can afford it. He says, by the time a car is two or three years old, all the teething problems have been ironed out.

He’s had a Jaguar, an Alfa-Romeo and two BMWs in the 20 years I’ve known him, and he says, if he had a choice between a ten-year-old Jaguar and a new Ford Focus, he’d take the Jag any time.

And yes, I would consider buying a car from Mr. Rex. He appears to have some good-quality stock, he doesn’t appear in his own TV commercials, and the place isn’t hung with bunting and plastic flags.

It was just the name! 😀
