Alpine Video

Today, I face the worst household chore there is … cleaning, and changing the oil in the deep-fat fryer. And, it’s grey, dull and drizzly outside. But, I can cheer myself up by watching my French Alpine video.

It didn’t take as long as I expected to make this. I was going to do a commentary, but I’m having a difficult enough time writing articles about the French Alps, and keeping the clichés from sneaking in. So, I decided to forgo it.

Apart from a few introductory words, I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Now, it’s off to do the deep-fat fryer … and, look forward to the first couple of batches of chips tasting faintly of Brillo pads!

The video has been on YouTube for a couple of days now, and I had a look at the stats yesterday. I was surprised to see the majority of the ‘hits’ came from the United Arab Emirates. Must be all that green grass and clouds that did it!

  2. Very nice Keith. I think green and cool must seem very appealing when you live in brown and dry.

Good luck with the cleaning—it’s amazing how sticky oil can get, hey?!

  3. I immediately thought of ‘Heidi’. I know she was Swiss but it was still in an alpine setting, right? How lovely. I liked the little bridge and the river and thought it was great you thanked the busker at the end. Brilliant!

  4. Someone left a comment on YouTube expecting to see Julie Andrews appearing over the hill.

Who next? Oliver Reed and an elephant?

Actually, I did think of Heidi while I was making it … I was considering using the slow bit from the ‘William Tell Overture’ (you know, the bit before ‘The Lone Ranger’ bit) as background music … they used that in the BBC TV series of ‘Heidi’

I liked the busker, too. I was going to buy one of his CDs, but I didn’t have enough cash on me, and I haven’t seen him since.
