Travelrat’s Travels

This sort of picture has become almost a photographic cliché in the last few decades. The crop is oilseed rape … or ‘canola’ to our transatlantic cousins. Used to be, only a little was grown in this country, mainly to feed sheep when the pasture was getting low in Spring. But, since the ‘healthy eating police’ desreed it was better for us to cook with vegetable oil, rather that animal fat, you don’t have to go far in May to find a vast acreage of almost blinding yellow.
